In Unit 3, I learned many new skills dealing with paint, clay, and drawing. I learned a variety of painting techniques, and how to effectively mix paint. I also learned how to productively roll out and cut clay. Lastly, I learned how to shade my drawings to make them look three dimensional and realistic.
In this unit, I found that my truffula tree painting was my most successful piece. I love how bright and vibrant the colors of my trees turned out. I also think I did a pretty good job making my landscape look three dimensional. However, I think this piece looks very puerile and not very realistic. I have been having trouble making my works of art look realistic and mature.
The media I would like to use again from this unit would definitely have to be clay. I thoroughly enjoyed creating my clay tile (even though it does not look so great) and loved being able to work with something other than paintbrushes and pencils. If I were to work with clay again, I would love to make a bowl or sculpture for example, rather than a tile.
